Who am I?

My name is Jess Steele, and I graduated summa cum laude from Portland State University with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design in 2025. I am a designer who loves working with vector artwork, motion graphics, UX/UI design, social media graphics, layout, and creating engaging and interactive experiences in both the physical and digital world. I believe in incorporating accessibility into the everyday design process and have a strong mindset to always keep my audience in mind to guide my work. I am passionate about creating informative work that is appealing and designed to help others. I also have a background in computer science.

I worked for Portland State University’s Services for Students with Children center as their graphic designer, creating posters, brochures, and social media materials to promote events every term. Working alongside marketing and other team members within our center, as well as other departments, I have a strong sense of teamwork and value maintaining good team morale. I am a junior designer who thrives in both a team and independently, and am looking for a workplace with a positive work culture and mentorship where I can continue to grow and develop my skill set.

Outside of work, I live and breathe tabletop role-playing games, play MMOs and video games (currently working on Expedition 33, and one day I’ll finish Baldur’s Gate 3), enjoy discovering new crafts to abandon after fully researching and gathering all the supplies for them, and enjoy wandering through nature in hopes of the fey reclaiming me as their long lost princess.

Born and raised in Chattanooga, TN, I moved to the metro Portland area in 2020. I currently reside in Sherwood with my fantastic spouse, a wonderful kiddo, and the most spoiled and purrfect two cats in the whole wide world.
